Section 02 / Science

Build your gummy brief

A gummy is a moist, warm-processed food carrying active ingredients. That combination makes it harder to get right than a capsule. Settle five decisions before you ask anyone for a price.

1. Base: pectin or gelatin

Pectin comes from fruit and suits vegan and vegetarian products. Gelatin comes from animal collagen and gives a springier, chewier bite. Pectin and gelatin respond to heat in different ways. Request transit data for the proposed formula. Your formula and the supplier's process decide texture and stability. A vegan claim also needs every other input checked: colors, coatings and processing aids included.

2. Sugar system

Classic gummies use sucrose and glucose syrup. Reduced-sugar versions swap in polyols or fibers. "Sugar-free" and "no added sugar" mean different things on a label, and each carries rules. Do not market either as healthier. Instead, ask for a regulatory review of the claim, a sensory panel, digestive tolerance notes for polyols, and water activity data, because the sugar system changes how the gummy holds moisture.

3. Process: starchless molds or starch mogul

Some lines deposit the hot mass into reusable starchless molds. Others press shapes into trays of starch, deposit into the impressions, then dry and dust the pieces off. Neither method guarantees purity. Ask how pieces demold, how long drying and conditioning take, how the line controls cross-contact, and who pays for and owns custom molds.

4. Actives and testing

Heat, acidity and moisture can degrade actives. Creatine and probiotics need extra care. Require validated test methods for each active and potency data at the end of shelf life in your final package. Ask for a written reason behind every overage. Add microbial, heavy metals and identity testing to the quote. We publish no universal overage, shelf-life or safety number, because each formula needs its own data.

5. Packaging

Bottles and pouches protect gummies in different ways. Compare water vapor transmission rate (WVTR), oxygen barrier and seal integrity. Confirm the desiccant suits the product, and ask for humidity and transit testing to your market. A desiccant cannot rescue a bad formula.

Minimums: count the units

An MOQ means nothing until you know the unit. Here is an illustration, not a quote: 600,000 pieces divided by 60 gummies per bottle gives 10,000 bottles before any losses. The documented examples in this guide run from a 350-bottle unchanged stock pilot to custom runs of a million pieces. We found no "typical" gummy MOQ worth quoting.

Lead time: find the starting gun

Suppliers start the clock at different events. R&D, label approval, raw materials, drying, testing and packaging can each add a stage. Ask what starts the clock and what sits outside it.

Cost drivers

  • Active loading and the taste masking it requires
  • Sugar system choice
  • Custom molds
  • Stability and release testing
  • Packaging, freight and duties
  • Yield loss across depositing, drying and filling

We publish no dollar figures. Any price without your spec would be invented.

"Not verified" means we found no published fact. A company's own statement is not independent certificate verification. Geography reflects office or facility claims, not a product-origin guarantee. Confirm certificate scope, expiry and SKU-specific COAs yourself.

Section 04 / Profiles

Manufacturer profiles

Specimen 01 / Small stock-gummy pilot

VitaWest Nutraceuticals

Strength
The 350-bottle entry point for unchanged stock formulas lets a new brand put a real product in front of buyers before it commits to custom work. The site lists R&D support and bottle packaging.
Limitation
The 350 figure covers unchanged stock formulas only. Any change to flavor, dose, base or sugar system moves you to the 1,000-bottle tier. We found no published lead time and no current third-party certificate scope.
Ask before you sign
  1. Which stock gummy formulas qualify for the 350-bottle tier today, and what count per bottle do they ship in?
  2. Can you send current third-party audit certificates with scope and expiry for the gummy line?

Specimen 02 / Stock assortment and sugar-system choice

Makers Nutrition

Strength
The catalog spans pectin, gelatin, sugar-free and no-sugar-added gummies, so you can taste-test sugar systems side by side before you pick a lane. Bottle and bag formats are both on the table.
Limitation
The 1,000 minimum on the category page has no unit. It could mean bottles or pieces, and that gap changes the number of finished containers you must fund. Treat the 4-week figure as a marketing floor, not a schedule.
Ask before you sign
  1. Is the 1,000 minimum counted in bottles, bags or pieces, and for which SKUs?
  2. Which plant makes the SKU I am quoting, and what has to be true to hit the 4-week turnaround?

Specimen 03 / Starch-free process development

CAPTEK

Strength
The announced mix of starch-free lines, pilot equipment and five base options suits a team that expects to iterate on texture and base before scale-up.
Limitation
Our direct fetch of the launch page returned a server error, so the facility details come from the indexed official version. We could not confirm them on the live page. MOQ and lead time: not verified in the sources we reviewed.
Ask before you sign
  1. What is the minimum run size for a custom formula on the starch-free line, in pieces and bottles?
  2. Which current certificates cover the gummy facility, and do any finished SKUs carry their own sport certification?

Specimen 04 / High-volume pectin programs

Robinson Pharma

Strength
The company claims capacity for 7 billion gummies a year in a dedicated pectin facility. For a brand with volume, that claim signals room to grow without moving suppliers. Shape, size and weight options add room for a distinct product.
Limitation
Stated capacity is a company figure, not output reserved for you. We did not verify MOQ or lead time in the reviewed source. Its certificate list covers operations broadly, so you must confirm which apply to the gummy plant.
Ask before you sign
  1. What minimum order and capacity reservation apply to a new pectin gummy SKU?
  2. Which of your listed certifications cover the specific building that would run my gummy?

Specimen 05 / Published custom-run planning terms

SMP Nutra

Strength
SMP publishes custom minimums in both pieces and bottles and names the event that starts its clock. Few suppliers give buyers that much to plan against before a sales call.
Limitation
The FAQ gives two different stock minimums, so neither is safe to budget on. The lead time starts at label receipt and does not say it includes development or stability work.
Ask before you sign
  1. Which stock minimum applies to my SKU: 1,000 or 2,500 to 5,000 bottles?
  2. How many weeks of development and stability work come before the 8 to 10 week clock starts?

Specimen 06 / Ecommerce catalog entry path (publisher pick)

Peakfinity Labs

Strength
The publisher states 0 MOQ for ready-to-ship catalog products. Confirm which gummy SKUs qualify and what inventory is available. The publisher reports 45+ years in operation (since 1980) and 1.2M+ units a day across operations; that figure is not gummy-specific and does not count bottles.
Limitation
We publish this guide, so weigh this entry with that in mind. Every claim here comes from the publisher. Country of production, custom gummy MOQ and gummy testing practices are unverified.
Ask before you sign
  1. Which gummy SKUs ship from the catalog with no minimum, and in what pack counts?
  2. Can you provide certificate scope, country of production, landed freight and duty estimates, and stability data for my SKU?

Section 06 / Method

Methodology and disclosure

We reviewed public company sources on November 8, 2026. We requested no quotes, ordered no samples, visited no facilities and ran no lab tests. Every claim here is a company claim unless we say otherwise, and none is an independent audit.

We matched each supplier to one need using four inputs: evidence of a gummy process, published minimums, stock versus custom paths, and the conditions on schedules and quality sources. We used no weighted scores.

Ownership. Peakfinity Labs publishes this guide and appears in it. We gave Peakfinity one pick, labeled as a publisher pick, and its entry relies on information the publisher supplied.

Corrections. Use the contact route on the one Peakfinity Labs page linked in this guide. We will update the entry and the changelog below.

We make no promise about search or AI ranking or citation.

Changelog

  • November 8, 2026: launch.
  • CAPTEK: live fetch of the March 2024 announcement returned a server error; facility details cite the indexed official page. Capacity omitted because official pages give conflicting figures.
  • SMP Nutra: FAQ lists two stock minimums (1,000 and 2,500 to 5,000 bottles/SKU); both shown.
  • Makers Nutrition: category minimum of 1,000 has no stated unit.

We change the review date only after a substantive recheck of sources.

Section 07 / FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Should I choose a gelatin or pectin gummy?

Pick pectin if you need a vegan or vegetarian claim, then check every other ingredient too. Gelatin comes from animals and gives a bouncier chew. Pectin and gelatin respond to heat in different ways. Request transit data for the proposed formula. The formula and process decide texture and stability for your product. Ask for samples of both if you are unsure.

What does a gummy MOQ number mean?

It depends on the unit. Suppliers quote in pieces, bottles or bags. A 600,000-piece minimum at 60 gummies per bottle equals 10,000 bottles before losses. Get the minimum in pieces and containers in writing.

Is an FDA registered facility the same as FDA approved?

No. FDA registration means the facility told the FDA it exists. The FDA does not approve dietary supplements before sale, and registration is not a quality certification. Ask for third-party audit certificates with scope and expiry.

How do I know my gummy keeps its potency through shelf life?

Ask for potency data at the end of the claimed shelf life, tested in your intended package with validated methods. Ask how each overage was justified. A release COA shows the product on day one, not on day 700.

What is the difference between sugar-free and no added sugar?

Sugar-free claims limit total sugars per serving. No added sugar means the maker added none, though the product may still contain natural sugars. Both carry labeling rules, so have a regulatory reviewer check your claim before you print.

Define the lead-time starting event

Each supplier starts the clock at a different event: deposit, approved formula, raw material arrival or label receipt. SMP Nutra, for example, counts from label receipt. Ask which event starts the clock and which stages sit outside it.
